Department Sort Order

The Sort Order determines the order in which departments are displayed in Cognivox.

Departments with lower sort-order numbers appear before departments with higher numbers.

Example

You might configure your departments as:

  • Sales — 10
  • Customer Services — 20
  • Technical Support — 30
  • Accounts — 40
  • Administration — 50

Using gaps between the numbers makes it easier to add another department later without having to change every existing department.

For example, a new New Customer Onboarding department could be given a sort order of 15 to place it between Sales and Customer Services.

Changing the order

To change a department's position:

  1. Open the Departments page.
  2. Select Edit for the department.
  3. Change the Sort Order.
  4. Select Save Changes.

The department list will use the new ordering.

Using increments of 10 is a simple way to keep your department ordering flexible.

For example:

10, 20, 30, 40, 50

The sort order only controls how departments are organised and displayed. It does not change the department's name, description or employees.
