Why Cognivox may request identification or proof of address when provisioning a telephone number.

Identity and Address Verification

Some telephone numbers are subject to regulatory requirements.

As part of the setup process, you may therefore be asked to provide documentation confirming your identity, address or business information.

Why is verification required?

These requirements are associated with the provision of regulated telephone services.

Cognivox works with its telecommunications provider to complete the required verification before an eligible telephone number can be activated.

What documents might be required?

The exact requirements depend on the telephone number, country, customer type and applicable regulation.

Cognivox will tell you what information or documentation is required during setup.

Documents may include evidence of:

  • Identity
  • Residential or business address
  • Business or organisation information

Make sure your document is readable

Before uploading a document, check that:

  • The document is clear and readable.
  • Required information is visible.
  • The relevant name is visible.
  • The address is visible where proof of address is required.
  • The document has not been unnecessarily cropped.
  • The document meets the requirements shown by Cognivox.

What happens after uploading?

Cognivox securely submits the required regulatory information to its telecommunications provider for assessment.

The application may then enter a review stage while the information is checked.
